Athletic Director/Physical Education

I was born in Jacksonville, FL but didn’t stay there for long. My mother was a Nutritional Therapist and my father is a retired Navy Captain who took my family on an adventurous trip across the United States to West Point, NY – Virginia Beach, VA – San Diego, CA – and then finished my career in Orlando, FL.
After graduating high school in Orlando, I went on to the University of Central Florida on a baseball scholarship where I pitched for the Knights. I really lucked out and met my beautiful wife at UCF who is also a Diocese of Orlando teacher.
After the school bell rings, I referee volleyball and umpire fast pitch softball at the high school and collegiate level. When I hang my hat up at home, my wife and I have two daughters who we spend every single second of free time with at the beach, backyard trampoline & pool, theme parks, trails, Tijuana Flats (quesadillas & chips with queso are their kids’ favorite), and anything Ava will agree to do. Ava is one of our daughters and she has Autism. The Freeland family is very active in the Autism community and while sometimes this area can be a daily challenge, this very situation has made me and my wife the teachers we are today. The journey has guided us in patience, teaching, and understanding that every child is unique and learns in different ways. I have been teaching in the Diocese for 8 years, 6 of those here at Resurrection. I love being able to share my passion with the children of Resurrection for not only sports but being active & eating right to live a long healthy life.
