Step Up for Students is an initiative of the Florida Tax Credit (FTC) Scholarship program which annually awards scholarships to eligible Florida students. The scholarship of $4,011 (maximum allowed by law, to date) is for tuition and books and is renewed annually. Eligibility information and applications are open until Nov. 30 (or until funding becomes unavailable) at www.stepupforstudents.org

Dr. Benedetti has administrative experience in both private, Catholic education and public education. Most recently he served as Assistant Principal of Moss Park Elementary in Orlando. He also previously served as Assistant Principal of St. Joseph Catholic School in Winter Haven.

Dr. Benedetti received his B.S. in English Education from Florida State University, a Masters in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern and a Ph.D in Leadership and Education from Barry University. He is a member of numerous organizations, including American Education Research Association, Florida Association of School Administrators, National Association of Elementary School Principals, The Academy of Management and Phi Delta Kappa.

When asked why Catholic education is important to him, Dr. Benedetti responded: "Catholic education provides a foundation to grow and nurture lifelong Catholics. Through my experience as assistant principal of St. Joseph Catholic School, I witnessed first-hand the advantages of providing daily exposure and instruction of our faith, as students had a stronger understanding of and connection to Catholicism. Integrating Catholicism in the context of academic schooling demonstrates how our faith supports our academic and professional goals. Catholicism has become increasingly important to me as I begin to share my faith with my children. As an assistant principal of a Catholic school, I really enjoyed integrating my faith into my daily work, whether it was to share in prayer with students and staff, or to help a student make better choices based on the teachings of our faith."
